Convict Notes
William Crew was tried at the Old Bailey where it was stated that he was 18 years old, however, William was married and ran a rag and Iron shop and was described as a dealer in marine stores. On the list for the Bengal Merchant, William was 29 years old (which makes more sense). William was tried with Benjamin Buckle (Surrey 1834 NSW) who was stated as being 11 years old. Benjamin was transported for stealing 7 caps, value 7s., the goods of James Spencer and William Crew for receiving the same. Benjamin was living at Crew's house in Hamilton-Row, York Buildings. 16/6/1843, 15/7/1845, 28/7/1846: TOL Passport, Windsor Bench. 1846: Recommended for CP 30/7/1847:CP 19/6/1852: COF Found no marriage, births or date of death for William.
