12 April 1820, 17 year old, Charles CRIDLAND was accused of pick pocketing a handkerchief from Henry Coape COATES on on 14 March 1820 at the Old Bailey in London, England. He was found guilty and sentenced to Transportation for life to Colony of New South Wales [Old Bailey Proceedings Online (www.oldbaileyonline.org, version 8.0, 02 May 2022), April 1820, trial of CHARLES CRIDLAND (t18200412-32).]. The ship, Hebe set sail from England on 27 July 1820 with Charles CRIDLAND among the convicts being transported and arrived in Port Jackson, Colony of New South Wales on 31 December 1820. 5 September 1825, Charles CRIDLAND applied for permission to marry Elizabeth WHALING (WHELON), a free settler.
