Thomas Cripps was listed as 19 years old on arrival at VDL. Native Place: Margate. Thomas was single, literate, protestant, 5'2ΒΌ" tall, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, heart & darts inside left arm, ring on ring & mid finger same hand. Father: Thomas, a labourer at Brighton. Brothers: William, Richard, Frederick, Edward. Sisters: Fanny, Emma -- all at Brighton. 1835 Muster: Assigned to Mr. G. Wilson. 1842: Free Certificate. 17/9/1874: Thomas Cripps died at the General Hospital, aged 58, of Anemia (listed as a Shepherd) -- he was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Hobart., paupers section.
