4/4/1828 Cambridge Chronicle and Journal Cambridgeshire, England: SUFFOLK ASSIZES John Crowder, for burglary in the house of Mr. S. Burford, of Beccles. John Crowder was 30 years old on arrival. Native Place: Norfolk. John was single, 5'7½" tall, brown hair, dark hazel e;yes, stout made, thick hands. 1830 Muster: Absconded - 30/7/1831 The Hobart Town Courier: John Crowder, 5 feet 7, brown hair, dark hazel eyes, age 32, a brickmaker, tried at Suffolk in March 1828. sentence life per Thames, native of Norfolk, stout made man. thick hands, absconded from Prisoners' barracks 24th July 1831. Reward £2. 1832-33 Muster: Public Works. 1835 Muster: Transported to Port Arthur. 11/2/1834 Colonial Times, Hobart: John Crowder, was sentenced three years to Port Arthur, for absconding from the hulk chain gang, in December 1831, and with going to New South Wales, from which he has been brought in the Government brig Isabella. This man was under sentence of transportation for seven years, for an offence committed in New South Wales. 1.1.1840: TOL 24/11/1840 Colonial Times, Hobart: John Crowder, ticket-of-leave, charged with stealing a quantity of onions, from the garden of Mr. Jacobs at Sandy Bay, ticket-of-leave cancelled, and to labor 12 months on the roads. 31/5/1844: TOL 22/1/1848: Recommended for a CP 10/2/1849: (Newspaper date) CP 1.5.1878: John died of epilepsy, aged 82, at Ross Rivulet, Cascades, Hobart. Listed as a gardener.
