John Crutch was listed as 19 years old on arrival - he was 5'3" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, single, reads and writes, Protestant, J.C. A.M. Fish ins rt. arm. Father: James Crutch, a paper maker at native place. Brother: Isaac, same trade at native place. 1832-33 Musters: Assigned to Lieut. Davis or David 1835 Muster: Assigned to Murray & Smith. Conduct Record: Empty. 3/2/1836: Free Pardon. 21/3/1849: Had a grant of land in Victoria called Cherry Tree Hill, 3840 acres, estimated grazing capability - 3000 sheep. 7/3/1854: Modewarre Lake, Salt Creek - District of Geelong Victoria. 25/5/1861: Member of the Modewarre Farmers' Assoc. 22/4/1879 Geelong Advertiser: DEATH. Crutch - On the 20th April, at his residence, Modewarre, John Crutch, aged 67 years. The funeral will move this day (Tuesday), the 22nd inst., at 2 o'clock. Friends are respectfully invited. John and his wife Ann, who died 28/8/1895, aged 77, are both buried at the Mount Moriac Cemetery, which is between Geelong and Torquay.
