Esther's parents were Henry Crutchley and Hester Elizabeth (Eliza) Smith. Her parents seperated, and her father remarried and had 5 kids to his second wife. Esther was only married twice. First husband was Isaac Tinker/Sinclair (Martha's father), then her second husband was Jonas Sutcliffe. Both husbands were convicts.




Esther Eliza Crutchley was 24 years old on arrival in VDL. Transported for stealing 6 pairs of stockings, value £2.9.0., the property of Richard Howell. Surgeon's Report: Very good Assistant Matron of Hospital. Esther was 4'11 1/4" tall, single, hazel eyes, brown hair, could read and write, C of E, Mole on right cheek, scar over left eye. Her occupations were Nurse Girl, Lady's Maid, and Needle woman. Jan. 1846: Married Isaac Tinker(free) per Moffatt 1834 in Hobart. They had 3 children. 31/8/1847: TOL 31/3/1851:COF




Esther married Isaac Tinker in VAn Diemans Land in 1845. She received her ticket of leave 31 August 1847. She than went on to marry 3 others, including William Wells and Jonas Sutcliffe.
