The Australian Indentures state that William Cuffe was 43 years old. He was a native of County Cork; religion Catholic; status: married with 6 children and was a ploughman and shepherd. He could not read or write. He was convicted of sheep stealing on 31 March 1828 at Cork and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 9 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy: hair dark brown to grey and eyes blue. Transport number 112. He was assigned to Mr John Lacy, Parramatta. Received his ticket of leave in 1833 (number 33/331) and Certificate of Freedom in 1835 (number 35/596).
