Mary (or k/a Margaret) Cullen was convicted at Kilkenny, Ireland on 6 July 1850 for stealing and killing a sheep. Previous for stealing potatoes and bees wax. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' arriving 29 May 1851. Single; nurserymaid; aged 18yrs; 4'11 1/4"; fair complexion; light brown hair; Roman Catholic. Native Place - Kingston. Mother - Betty Brother - Patrick Sisters - Mary, Hannah & Ellen Assignments in Colony. 1851: work assignment - G. Woodward, Fitzroy Crescent. Marriage Permission: to George Bloomfield (transported per 'Maria Somes') 25 May 1852. Approved. Married 19 June 1852 at Wesleyan Mission House, New Norfolk. Under name "Margaret Cullen".
