An inquest was held at Launceston, on the 22nd instant, upon the body of Margaret Butler, per Amelia Thompson, aged 67 years, who was undergoing a sentence of 3 months imprisonment. Verdict--Natural causes. Tasmania Police Gazette, 28th July 1871, p122.

Both on board 1851 - Birth of son. James Cunningham. 19 Nov 1851 Registered: Hobart 1853 - Marriage Permissions to James Butler. Free. 1859 - 19 January 1859. Queen's Orphan School Application for admission made by Father Woods Child; James Cunningham [Illegitimate] Aged; 6 years old Baptised at the Brickfields by Rev'd Livermore FATHER: Mother states she could not possibly tell ..... so she named the child after herself. MOTHER; Margaret Cunningham UX Butler Remarks; The mother of the child has not regular employment but occasionally cuts wood and sell it.

Bridget Rock was an associate also convicted. She had one previous conviction. She is listed at Grangegorman prison Ireland in 1849. She arrived in VDL on the vessel Duke of Cornwall with her sister Mary and Jane Cunningham. . Margaret is recorded as a convict at the Cascades female factory in Hobart Tasmania, and at Brickfields convict hiring depot in Tasmania with her sister Mary. She married James Butler in 1853. She is presumed to have died in Australia but death record not located yet. .
