Conduct Record: John Curtis (cripple), was transported for 'Stealing money £4.15.6d from Mr. Wicks, my master at Caryton'. This was his first conviction. John was 24 years old on arrival, he was 5'7¾" tall, sallow complexion, sandy hair, no whiskers, hazel eyes, single, can read a little, slight impediment in speech E x B woman and Bird in hand B in heart and darts fish J x C A J D Q 3 - 1843 on right arm scar on right thumb flower pot mermaid and anchor half moon & stars J. C anchor diamond {globe} on left arm below elbow Ring on third finger right hand. 11/7/1848: TOL 303/6/1848: Permission to marry Eliza Hayes (Arabian 1847) - both in private service, residing in Hobart - approved. 7/8/1848: Married Eliza Hayes, aged 24, at St. George's, Hobart - John was 28 and a Labourer.
