Mary CURTIS was convicted at Louth, Ireland on 1 Jan 1850 for Larceny - stealing money. One previous offence. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' 1851. Aged 24yrs; country servant; 5'1 1/4"; single; Roman Catholic; can read. Native Place: Co. Louth Mother: Ellen Brother: Michael Sisters: Bridget & Margaret Assigned to work services in Colony. Several records of misconduct and punishments. 1855: Application for permission to marry approved - to John Riley. ref. 52/1/7 no. 409. 22 July 1855: Marriage to John Riley at the Catholic Chapel, New Norfolk, Tasmania. Mary aged 30 yrs; John aged 40 yrs, labourer. 4 Sept 1855: Ticket of Leave approved. 3 June 1857: Certificate of Freedom
