Family connections for Robert (Cussan) are: CUSSAN Robert (Cussan/ion/Cousins) was born about 1790 & became a chemist/druggist/apothecary. He was tried as an Irish Rebel for heading a party of Whiteboys & attacking house John (Shelton) Esq at Limerick Co. Ireland in 1822, sentenced to be hanged reprieved to Life, transferred to Penitententiary House Cork & arrived in NSW as a convict on 8 11 1822 after a voyage of 4.5months on MANGLES; he was forwarded to Parramatta for distribution & became dispenser at Parramatta Hospital-apparantly administering to th Governor of the colony. On 1 8 1827 he was appointed as Constable at Maitland. He was Free by Servitude by 1828 & was recorded as a farmer at Parramatta. He was issued his Ticket of Leave. He was again appointed constable at Maitland on 8 10 1832. [Some details taken from this Website] Milbah (Harrex) was born on 16 6 1809 in Limerick co. Ireland & baptised on 17 9 1809 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She had a first relationship with Robert (Cussion). She was recorded in 1828 at Parramatta with her mother. She married secondly Nicholas (Cavillon/ion) on 10 3 1829 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & produced at least ichild. She died on 14 5 1875 age65 mother of at least 2children. HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR has been pleased to approve of the appointment of Robert Cussan, holding a Ticket of Leave, to be Constable at Maitland, from the 8th instant, in the room of James Moran, per Daphne, dismissed in consequence of having been found guilty of theft. Per "Mangles", 1822. 1822 Nov On list of convicts landed from the "Mangles" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution (Reel 6009; 4/3506 p.430) 1825 Sep 7 Dispenser at Parramatta Hospital. Petition for mitigation of sentence (Fiche 3245; 4/1873 p.49) -------------------------------------------------- The Humble Petition of Robert Cussan sheweth That Petitioner was tried at Limerick in 1822, and in the same year arrived per Mangles in the Colony, since which Petitioner has been and continues in the employ of Government acting in the capacity of Dispenser at His Majesty’s General Hospital, Parramatta, and under the directions of Dr Macleod to Your Excellency and family. That Petitioner is one of those unfortunate persons banished his Country for his Political principles, but trusts that his conduct since his arrival has been such as to merit the appprobation of his excellency. That Petitioner most humbly solicits that Your Excellency will be graciously pleased to restore him to that rank in society, from which he has unhappily fallen, and for such mark of Your Excellency’s favor, Petitioner as in Duty bound will ever pray. On Thursday, the High Sheriff of the County received an order to transmit the following convicts to the Penitentiary House, Cork, previous being embarked for transportation for life to one of his Majesty’s colonies. were all capitally convicted and sentenced to be hanged at our Last Assizes —Robert Cussan, for heading a party of Whiteboys, and attacking the house John Shelton, Esq. Thomas Kennely, Jo Kennely, James Grifin, Michael Welsh, John Fennel, Patrick Fennel, Patrick Corbet, and James Donoghue, for breaking into Slmnagoiden Post-office; John Conners, Michael Connors, P.
