National Records of Scotland Trial papers relating to William McKechnie, White Cuthbertson for the crime of theft by housebreaking, habit and repute, and previous conviction. Tried at High Court, Glasgow Dates 24 Apr 1849 Accused William McKechnie, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession, Sentence: Transportation - 7 years White Cuthbertson, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession, Sentence: Transportation - 7 years William McKechnie was also on board. On the 27/4/1847 both William McKechnie and White Cuthbertson were Imprisoned for 18 months for Theft, seems that they were about 10 years old at this time - William McKechnie's mother Janet McKechnie/Donald **her maiden name** was also transported at this time, on the Cadet 1848 for 7 years. White Cuthbertson was the son of William Cuthbertson, servant, Newtown of Paisley. On arrival in VDL 16/12/1852 White Cuthbertson was listed as 15 years old which would make his birth year C1837. White was 4'7"tall, fair complexion, light hair, hazel eyes, native place: Paisley, pockpitted, 2 scars right side of forehead, scar top forehead. 1/9/1852: Employed by Thomas Beswick. 22/12/1852: Was at the Port Barracks. 18/10/1853: TOL
