Old Bailey. John Cutler was indicted for feloniously stealing a letter containing a certain promissory note for 10£. the property of Elizabeth Garnett Gale, of Richmond, Surrey, - the 22d of August last. The prisoner had been out upon bail since the last Session and now surrendered himself to abide his trial. He was employed as a. stamper of letters at the General Post Office, and, it was fully proved the letter from Bridport, containing the 10£. note, hail been received, at the Post Office, and had been exchanged for 11. notes at the Bankers, which notes were traced to the possession of the prisoner. The trial occupied the attention of the Court for several hours, and  Mr. Le Mane, having summed up the evidence at great length, the Jury, without the slightest hesitation, found the prisoner Guilty—Death; but recommended him to mercy, account of his previous good character.
