Convict Notes

Extra notes and corrections: Jane was trialled in the Gaol of the city of Limerick on the 7th of January 1836 aged 13, for stealing a hat on Nov 14th 1835. Jane arrived on the female convict ship Thomas Harrison and was first transferred to the Female Factory Parramatta on arrival. Unsure for how long. She was given her certificate of freedom 8th of August 1843. Married to Thomas Smith 1839. They had a son John Joseph Smith who was born 1842 in Sydney and later moved to New Zealand. He died in Napier in 1890 aged 48. Thomas Smith arrived in Sydney on the ship Eleanor 1839 as stated on the marriage banns. I'm yet to find out where he came from and whether he was crew or passenger, as there are various ships Eleanor. Most likely London.
