Anne Daily, for stealing a purse containing £2 10s., the property of Thomas Trainer. The prosecutor in this case, on being sworn, stated that the prisoner had lived with him as a servant, and that had paid her quarter’s wages before it became due, she left his house, and on looking the next day for his pocket-book, which contained 30s., it was gone; there was a Bank of Ireland 30s. note in the pocket book which he knew; prosecutor went to the Police, and Sergeant Armstrong got his pocket- book and the 30s. note on the person of the prisoner’s child. William Armstrong, Sergeant of Police, examined—Witness, on prosecutor’s information, searched for the prisoner, and took her and her child into custody; witness searched the prisoner, and finding nothing on her, he searched the child, and pulled out of its breast the prosecutor’s pocket-book, which contained 30s Bank of Ireland note ; prisoner told witness that she took it from the prosecutor, and that she had spent ? of the money. Trainer, the prosecutor, here identified the note and pocketbook as his property. Guilty; to be transported for 7 years.   Newry Telegraph, 30 July 1830.
