Norah Daley of Longford, per Lord Auckland, F.S., Offence-Larceny, Sentence-3 months, Native place-Ireland, age 60 yrs, 5 feet 2 inches high, resides at Longford. Tasmania Police Gazette, 18th Aug 1871, p135. Prisoner discharged from H M Gaols, Hobart & Launceston, week ending 15 Nov 1871 and 11 Nov 1871. Norah Daley, per Lord Auckland, F.S., tried at Longford, on 7 Aug 1871, for larceny, received 3 months, native place is County Cork, age 60 yrs, grey hair. Police Gazette, 17th Nov 1871, p186. Return of Persons convicted during the week ending 24 Feb 1872. At Westbury, Norah Daley, per Lord Auckland, F.S., for larceny, sentenced to 12 months, native of Cork, servant, 56 yrs, 5 feet 3 inches high, resides at Westbury & Longford. Tasmania Police Gazette, 1st Mar 1872, p40.


Born about 1808. At time of conviction: Roman Catholic, could neither read nor write, Widowed. Gaol & Surgeon reports: Quiet. Stole shoes, one prior conviction. Was not allowed to enter service in "the District of Hobartown" after first post in '51. Multiple postings in Hamilton, New Norfolk, then Launceston. Note in 1854: "Unable to enter service in the District of Launceston." ToL 31 Aug 1852 "not to reside in Hobarton". Multiple charges for drink and obscenities / disorderly with short sentences (e.g. 7 days cells) or fines, building to 3 months hard labour and then ToL revoked 26 Jan 1855. Received Cert 10 Aug 1855 Launceston. Then two further convictions for larceny under 5pounds in 1865.
