Daniel's son by Mary Gunny was listed as Daniel Gunny on his birth certificate (no father given)and it was later unilaterally changed to Denis Lynch.




Daniel Fowler was also a boatman for Garling the famous landscape artist not the name given on the record.




The information that Daniels father made the petition is incorrect. Granted it looks like William, but in fact it is Mrs Fowler.. and after years of costly research we have never been able to uncover her Christian name.




Daniel Fowler was sent to work with Frederick Guilding of Sydney. 1840: TOL Parramatta 31/12/1847: CP Daniel had a de facto relationship with Mary Gunny, an Irish orphan, aged 17, who arrived in Sydney on the Red Rover in 1832. They had a son, Daniel. The relationship broke up and Mary then took up with Denis Lynch, and changed the name of her son to Daniel Lynch. 1835: Married Bridget Welsh, 9 children. Bridget was the daughter of Bridget Murray (Canada 1817). After Daniel died in 1855, Bridget married in 1862 to Robert Grimwood. Grimwood died 6 months later. Bridget never married again and died in 1889 of breast cancer at Camperdown. 7/12/1855: Daniel died aged 47. A petition for clemency state Daniel's father was William Fowler.




Daniel Fowler my great grandfather - married Bridget Welsh daughter of convict mother in 1835 -9 children - killed 1855 when cedar log fell on his head whilst transporting timber down river - born in Stover Bristol c. 1806- can't find his birth - married when sentenced to hang, commuted to transportation.
Daniel Fowler was my G. G. grandfather he was married in England with 4 children when sentanced in sommerset he was living in Lanes End Staffordshire at he time of his arrest. I have no knowledge of that family only the one he started in Australia. Daniel was educated and came from a well to do family that is all we know other than he claimed to be born in Bristol. Any assitance would be so appreciated to find his family mother or father.
