Daniel Hibbert was a porter for a firm of wholesale grocers. He loaded an extra loaf of sugar (weight 16lbs value 16 shillings) onto a delivery cart and then took it later. He was arrested with the sugar loaf which had an identification number. He was 32 and was sentenced to seven years transportation.
