Daniel PASS was convicted at Stafford, England on 21 April 1830 for stealing lead. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Lord Lyndoch' arriving there 18 Nov 1831. Single man; aged 20 yrs; cook & pastry chef; 5'6 3/4"; stout build; fresh complexion; brown hair; Hazel eyes. Colony of VDL: Assigned out to work. 2 Feb 1832: Idleness & disobedience of orders. 25 lashes and returned to Master, H. Jellico. 2 Feb 1833: Disobedience of orders. 25 lashes and returned to Master. H. Jellico. 31 July 1833: Road Work Party - absent without leave. 25 lashes. 23 Oct 1833: Road Work Party - Idleness. To work 3 Saturdays. 1834: at Swan Port 1836: at Richmond and Swan Port. 1836: Ticket of Leave granted. 20 April 1842: Hobart Supreme Court. Not Guilty. 10 July 1842: Hobart Suprme Court. Uttering a forged bill. Guilty. Extension of 7 yrs transportation sentence. APPLICATION FOR PERMISSION TO MARRY: 18 April 1836: Caroline BUSH (per ‘America’) to Daniel PASS (per ‘Lord Lyndoch’). (ref. 52/1/1 pg 148) Deferred. 14 March 1837: Caroline BUSH (per ‘America’) to Daniel PASS (per ‘Lord Lyndoch’). (ref. 52/1/1 pg 150) Approved, if clergy satisfied. Marriage: 24 April 1837: Marriage of Caroline BUSH, widow to Daniel PASS, bachelor at Church, Parish of Trinity, Hobart. (ref. 36/1/3 no. 3711) DEATH of Wife: 23 Feb 1839: Caroline BUSH/PASS died at Hobart, pulminary consumption. Aged 31 yrs. (ref. 35/1/1 no. 107) Daniel PASS remarried, in 1839 to Elizabeth GOLDIE. No record of death yet located, under his name.
