Convict Notes

On the 1816 Muster the wife of Joseph Griffiths is listed as Martha Davis. The 1816 Muster also lists Monmouth as Martha’s place of trial and that she was tried in March 1802, receiving a sentence of 7 years. On the Convict Transportation Registers for the journey of the Experiment in 1804 Martha Daniel David is listed as ‘Convicted at Carmarthen Great Sessions for a term of life in April 1801’. Given the above conflicting information it seems unlikely that Martha Daniel David is the wife of Joseph Griffiths.

Married Joseph Griffiths, a soldier from Wales in Australia. They had two living children. Freedom granted in the 1820's. Martha lived till she was 82. but didn't get her freedom until the 1820's.
