Commuted to transportation for life on application to the Home Secretary because he confessed and gave the names of accomplices and was convicted on the evidence of his brother Robert who turned King's Evidence.

DAVIDSON Family connections for Josiah (Davidson) are: Josiah (Davidson) was born on 22 11 1808 in Norfolkshire. He was tried at Norfolk Assizes Norwich on 24 3 1831 for arson, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 13 2 1832 after a voyage of 5months on ASIA & in Bathurst in 1833. She was assigned to David (Ramsay) of Dolroyd. She arrived in Bathurst before 1839, although she is recorded as assigned to the hospital in Bathurst in 1831, where she received her Tickets of Leave 39/374 & 39/514 for Bathurst on 8 4 1839 & her Certificate of Freedom 40/1454 on 2 9 1840. She died on 23 7 1857 age47 at Queen Charlottes Vale & was buried at Bathurst.
