Edward DAVIES was convicted at Denbigh, Wales on 30 March 1830 for horse stealing. Life Sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Southworth' arriving 19 Oct 1830. Single man. VDL: Assigned to work service. 19 Sept 1835: Assault. 48 hrs in solitary confinement, on bread & water. 28 Oct 1841: Conditional Pardon approved. No. 3425. 1 Sept 1846: Pardon extended. Application for Permission to Marry: 8 Aug 1840 - Alice Murphy (per Hindostan) to Edward Davies (per Southworth) Marriage: 14 Dec 1840 at the Parish Church, Parish of Hamilton, VDL. Alice MURPHY, aged 19 yrs, to Edward DAVIES, aged 29 yrs, farming man. (ref. 37/1/2 no. 886.)
