Convict Notes

Family connections for Aaron (Davis) are: I have transferred this Contribution to Fleet ship ALEXANDER . Don't know how to DELETE from here. ALEXANDER. DAVIS/IES Aaron (Davis/ies) became a baker. He arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 1 1788 after a voyage of 8months on First Fleet ship ALEXANDER; his faith was Jewish. He arrived on Norfolk Island on 28 7 1790 & married firstly (1of4) Mary (Walker) in November 1791 in a group ceremony on Norfolk Island. He is recorded as being a baker before 1794. He owned 12acres Lot62 at Queensborough in 1796. He was Free by Servitude by 1802.>>> Aaron (Davis) does not have an entry on this Website as yet-added by me. Mary (Walker [she is given the christian/surname (Taunton) also]) was born about 1764. She was tried at Middlesex Gaol Delivery, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover. She arrived on Norfolk Island on 7 8 1790. She is shown in Ref:'People...' as having her 2nd to 4th children while Aaron (Davies) was with Rachel (Watkins). She was prevented from travelling to Australia on First Fleet ship PRINCE OF WALES by imminent birth of a child. She arrived in Port Jackson NSW, presumably with her family, on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 7months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate; & on 28 7 1790 was sent to Norfolk Island with her son on SURPRISE, arriving on 7 8 1790, where she is recorded with her family. She owned property at Charlottes Fields Queensborough & had cleared 47rods by July 1791. In 1794 she returned to Sydney & lived with her family at 28 Cumberland St The Rocks until 1803.
