Launched 1777, 401 ton barque, built at Whitby, England. Departed Portsmouth, England on 29 July 1789, via Cape of Good Hope for Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia on 3 June 1790. 1790 voyage carried 226 female passengers (convicts)- 5 of whom died on the trip. 6 children also on board. Significant because it was the first ship to bring all female women to the Colony.

Family connections for Ann (Davis) seems to be: DAVIS Ann (Davis) was born about 1772 at St George Gloucestershire. She was tried for stealing a gown etc at Gloucester, sentenced to 7years, held at Gloucester Castle Gaol & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover; she was Protestant. She arrived on Norfolk Island on 7 8 1790. She had a first (1of4) relationship with Samuel (Richards) before 1792 (no marriage shown in Smees records) & produced 3children.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] [In Ref:'People...' He was tried for theft of silk at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 12months on First Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH. He was tried at Lancashire General Quarter Sessions Manchester in January 1788, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ATLANTIC. In 1795 he was one of the 50convicts (which included James Bryan (Cullen SCARBOROUGH 1788or1790) & John (Herbert ROYAL ADMIRAL 1792)) who stowed away on ENDEAVOUR at Port Jackson on journey to England; the ENDEAVOUR was unseaworthy & was wrecked/scuttled at Dusky Bay New Zealand & the accompanying ship FANCY together with an abandoned ship PROVIDENCE-found on beach at Dusky Bay-brought them to Norfolk Island on 16 1 1796. He is recorded with Ticket of Leave in 1806 & 1811. He worked as a labourer & on 14 1 1800 he purchased land from James (Shears)-perhaps Plot no.12 near Phillipsburg eastern side of the island. He had a second relationship with Ann (Coombs her third relationship). He is recorded as Free by Servitude settler off stores landowner on Norfolk Island in February 1805. He is recorded with Ticket of Leave in 1806 & 1807 off stores with a wife & 30acres & in 1811. In 1807 he had 30acres & went with his wife to Hobart Town Tasmania as part of the first evacuation (for which volunteers apparantly had been called with appropriate compensation offerred & for which he may have tried to decline as some successful farmers were asked to stay) on 25 12 1807 on HMS PORPOISE, arriving on 17 1 1808, to land granted at Clarence Plains/Roaches Bay, where he is known to have been living with his wife on 35acres at Clarence Plains. On 10 8 1816 an auction of many of his effects was advertised but cancelled after payment of his debts. He was mentioned in notices in period 1816-1819 as supplying meat & wheat etc. He seems to have brought up several orphaned children-at his own expense- & a child born in 1813 (possibly orphaned) was living with him in 1822, shown in school records. He is recorded as living at Elizabeth St Hobart Town in September 1827 when he requested a grant of land. He was fined for drunkennes & disorderly behavious in June 1828. He died on 26 3 1832 age69. She had been issued her Absolute Pardon by 1799. By 1803 she was almost blind & had been deteriorating since 1797. She was Free by Servitude by 1805. [Noted an Ann (Davis) is recorded as dying on 13 6 1826 in Sydney age42 & buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney] Simon (Mould/s) was born in 1776 at Enfield Middlesex. He was a labourer at Plaistowe Essex when he was tried w/1other for stealing various cattle & horses of Elizabeth (Hicks), John (Bonnett), John (Que), Joseph (Osborne), on various dates, at Chelmsford Lent Assizes Essex on 8 3 1797, sentenced to Life, & arrived in NSW as a convict on 18 5 1798 after a voyage of 8months on BARWELL; he was Protestant. In 1806 he is recorded as working as government stock keeper at Parramatta. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 31 1 1813. In 1814 he is recorded as a labourer at Parramatta & was living on his own land at Toongabbee; he was granted 50acres in Bathurst district. On 30 6 1823 he was farming 60acres at Castle Hill. In 1828 he is recorded as farming 170acres at Seven Hills. He died on 17 6 1843 age67 & was buried at St Johns CofE Parramatta. The statements on this Website that Ann (Davis) married both Thomas (Fowles) & Simon (Moulds) cannot be relied on until consideration of the following: Elizabeth (Davis) is shown in Smees records as arriving in NSW as a convict in 1791 on NEPTUNE-the appropriate ship would be Fleet ship NEPTUNE which arrived on 26 6 1790-& on which an Elizabeth (Davis) does have an entry. She had a relationship with Thomas (Fowles convict Fleet ship ATLANTIC1791) & produce a child-Elizabeth born 1796. Elizabeth (Davis) is shown in Norfolk Island References as arriving in Australia on LADY JULIANA, which arrived in NSW on 3 6 1790-on which she does not have an entry-& later arrived on Norfolk Island on 7 8 1790. She had a relationship with Thomas (Fowles no ship) who arrived on Norfolk Island on 16 11 1796-they produced a child-Elizabeth born 1796. They are both shown as leaving Norfolk Island on on 25 12 1807-the appropriate ship being HMS PORPOISE, the passenger list for which shows him with an unnamed wife. The daughter is not shown as leaving Norfolk Island. The records found for Tasmania do not show any of them. & Elizabeth (Davis) is now also to be found to have married James/Joseph (Sticke/Staike/s/Stackes convict Fleet ship NEPTUNE 1790) in 1791. [Ref M3286] Moulds, Simon, 54, conditional pardon, Barwell, 1798, life, Protestant, farmer, Seven Hills. [Ref M3288] Moulds, John, 14, born in the colony Simon (snr) held 170 acres of land of which 54 acres were cleared and 29 acres cultivated. He had 6 horses and 30 cattle. Simon (jnr) was nearby. [Ref M3287] Moulds, Simon, 23, BC, Settler, Castle Hill,. He held 60 acres 10 of which was cleared and cultivated with 1 horse and 7 cattle. The daughters were married and with their families. Susannah, married to Francis Sherwood (Convict, Ocean, 1816) [Ref S0734]. Charlotte, married to Samuel Wooler (Convict, Agamemnon, 1820) [Ref W2528].




Ann was born in St. George, Gloucestershire, England and was convicted of stealing a gown, 5 caps and other items of clothing. In Gloucester Castle Gaol between 1788 and March 1789 (Age 15) Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom Said to be aged 20 years at the time of her arrival. Married Samuel RICHARDS before 1792 (Age 19) and had 3 children. Married Thomas FOWLES before 1796 (Age 23) and had 1 daughter Married Thomas WILLIAMS about 1798 (Age 25) and had 2 children. Thomas Williams died 1803 aged 30. C1803: Had little or no sight, aged 30 Was then with Simon Moulds (Barwell 1797) and had children in 1805, 1808, 1811 and 1814 the last when she was 41. In 1810 she petitioned Governor Macquarie for confirmation of an 80-acre land grant promised to her by the Anti-Bligh administration but not surveyed. This promise must have been made in 1808-9 and related to the land worked by Thomas Williams. In her application she said she had five children (Elizabeth Fowles, Thomas and Mary Williams, and Simon and Sussanah Moulds), had been blind for thirteen years and had demonstrated good behaviour. Her application was not granted but she did receive Government rations because of her disability. 21/2/1820: Age 47, married Simon Moulds at St Johns’ Parramatta. 11/3/1854: Ann died in Seven Hills, N.S.W. and was buried in St. Johns Cemetery, Parramatta, N.S.W.
