On Tuesday were committed to Warwick gaol, Benjamin Davis, James and Thos. Green, alias Thos. Smith, on a charge of stealing a chesnut gelding, and a black mare, from Burford, in the county of Salop, which were found their possession. They were apprehended on the preceding evening, by Sumner &c Tart, as characters. The horses were claimed on Tuesday morning by two men from Tenbury, on whose testimony they were committed.— Staffordshire Advertiser, 3 Oct 1801. At the Warwick assizes, … Benj. Davis, T. Green, and W. Lane, for horsestealing ; … were also capitally convicted. Weekly Dispatch, 4 April 1802.
