Family connections for George (Davis) are: DAVIS George (Davis alias Williams) was born about 1784 & became a sailor/mariner. He was tried for obtaining money & goods by false pretences of Shierly (Pittman) & Benjamin (Lake)-both butchers of St Paul & St Nicholas Deptford southeast London at Maidstone Assizes Kent, sentenced to Life, held on hulk ZEALAND at Sheerness River Medway from August 1812 & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 10 1813 after a voyage of 5months on EARL SPENCER; he was forwarded to Liverpool for distribution. [Some details taken from this Website; where 2xGoerge (Davis) are found & some information could be attributed to the wrong person & sometimes to both. UNSURE information is stated below.] UNSURE information that could apply to either of George (Davis) is: George (Davis) was born in Yorkshire, 5'4" dark complexion black hair hazel eyes/ 5'4" dark/sallow complexion black hair hazel eyes. He was age28 when tried. George (Davis) may have married Mary Ann (Butt/Lawrence). Details of Mary Ann (Butt/Lawrence)s family are given in the entry for the other George (Davis) on this ship. This George (Davis) could also be the person, emancipist of Sydney, who married Jane (Henry age38) emancipist--rather than Mary Ann (Butt/Lawrence)--on 3 2 1822 at St Marys RC Sydney. Jane (Henry) was born about 1781. She arrived in NSW as a convict on 28 7 1814 after a voyage of 7months on BROXBOURNEBURY. It may be she who died on 3 12 1826 age45 in Sydney, recorded as Jane (Davis). Jane (Henry) does not have an entry on this Website as yet-added by me. George Davis, alias Williams, charged with obtaining under false pretences, at St. Paul, Deptford, money and goods value four pounds, the property of Shierly Pittman, Butcher. He is also charged with obtaining, under false pretences,  at St. Nicholas, Deptford, money and goods, value one pound, the property of Benjamin Lake, butcher.  Kentish Weekly Post, 1 Sep 1812. Early on Saturday morning were removed under a strong guard, from his Majesty's gaol, Maidstone, and put on board the Zealand hulk, at Sheerness, for transportation, the following male convicts, viz. - Pride, George Davis, Wm Win Castledon, Wm Wise, John Seabrook, Richard Wise, Wm Streeton, George Tamer, Henry. Eldridge, Henry Merkins, Thomas Marlow, James Egau, Wm Brigual, John Wingafe, Joseph Price, and John. Batt. Kentish Gazette, 4 Sept 1812.
