Joseph DAVIS was convicted at Wellington, New Zealand for burglary on 8 Sept 1846. 15 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ship ‘Castor’ arriving 16 Nov 1846. Joseph stated he was originally from Manchester, England and had gone to New Zealand as a sailor on the ship ‘Eliza’ to Port Nicholson.
