For years I have followed the other Samuel Davis No.87D. I have just been told that the Devon man No. 84D is my ancestor instead. On the records he is shown as being 22 when I am now told he was 32. My question is this: why did a shipwright only ever work as a tenant farmer all his life? Was his skill not more suited to something else I ask? Would love any more info on this man who is now new to my research. Natalie Davis.Irvine.
