Wednesday last, the following convicts were removed from Ipswich County Gaol, to be put on board the hulks at Portsmouth : — Benj. Bunn, John Wales, Thos. Hurn, James Plumb, Matthew Newell, Wm. Calver, to be transported for life; Samuel Lester, Wm. Jackson, and Wm. Summons, for 14 years ; and John Norton, Wm. Manby, Adam Palmer, and R. Day. for 7 years. Roger Day (by John Gibson, Esq.) charged with stealing three firkins of butter, from a stage cart belonging John Flack, of Colchester. Suffolk Chronicle, 8 April 1820. Roger Day, for stealing 162 lbs. of butter. the property of John Flack, at Stratford St. Mary—Guilty: 7 years’ transportation. Assaulting James Duffey, Fined 20s. Free by Servitude. Afts tried and convicted at Launceston Q.S. 25 June 1840, 7 years. To be sent to Port Arthur for 3 years and conduct to be reported. Roger DAY was convicted at Suffolk, England on 14 April 1820. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Guildford' arriving 1820. VDL: Assigned to work service. Ticket of Leave granted. Free by servitude. 25 June 1840: Convicted at the Launceston Court . 7yrs imprisonment. To be sent to Port Arthur Penal Settlement for 3 years. 10 July 1841: Died, at Port Arthur.
