National Records of Scotland: Title Trial papers relating to Margaret Haddon for the crime of theft at Dalkeith, Edinburgh, various locations. Tried at High Court, Edinburgh Dates 25 Jan 1847 Accused Margaret Haddon, wife of Robert Haddon, painter, m.s. Deas, Verdict: Guilty, Sentence: Transportation - 7 years Previous convictions: edinburgh sheriff court, 3 May 1845. Margaret was 37 years old on arrival in VDL - Maiden name was Deas - she was transported for 'Stealing a blanket'. Margaret was 4'11 1/4" tall, brown hair, grey eyes, could read and write, married and C of E. 3/9/1850: TOL 25/10/1853: TOL revoked 4/5/1852: Recommended for a CP 23/3/1854: CP approved. 31/7/1854: Maried John Allen, aged 50, an Ironmonger, at Hobart. Margaret was 45 and listed as a Widow. 18/7/1864: Margaret Deas or Allen, died at the General Hospital, Hobart, aged 53, of 'Malignant diseast of the Face'. (Born Edinburgh).
