James DELAHUNTY was convicted at Court Martial, Malta. 14 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship "Neptune" departing 21 Feb 1850. Colony of VDL: James was given Conditional Pardon status upon arrival. (ref. Tas Archive Convict record) A "James DELAHUNT" married Margaret JOHNSTON (transported per James Calvin) 1 March 1853, at Hobart which is most probably this same person. James is listed as a cook. Margaret a widow. (ref. 37/1/12 no. 329) A child James DELA-HUNT was born 24 May 1854 to James DELAHUNT, a cooper and Margaret McGuiness. Argyle St. Hobart. (ref. 33/1/5 no. 993) DEATH: James DELAHUNT died, accidently burnt by fire. Inquest held 12 Nov 1859.
