New South Wales, Australia, Returns of the Colony, 1822-1857 1826 Samuel Dell appointed master of Public School Newcastle June 1820 appointed by T Brisbane Gov salary 17 pounds 6 shillings and 8 pence per year. By 1827 his salary had risen to 22. 6. 8

Samuel Dell was on the Prison Hulk "Justitia" moored at Woolwich. He was received onto the hulk on 20 October 1819. He was transported on the "Neptune" on 9 March 1820.

Samuel Dell was 37 years old when indicted for having forged Bank of England notes in his possession, along with 15 others. Samuel was married and had children, in 1825 he petitioned to have his family sent out to the Colony at the Government's expense. (Did not find their arrival.) 22/11-14/12/1820: Richard and John Evans tried by Court of Criminal Jurisdiction for stealing from Dell. 2/1/1821: Re salary as clerk at Sydney Hospital. 14/3/1821: On list of prisoners transported to Newcastle per 'Elizabeth Henrietta' 1825: Master of Newcastle School. Abstract of Return submitted to the King's Visitor. 1/2/1825: Has combined the duties of Parish Clerk and School Master at Newcastle; recommended for a salary. 29/7/1825: Order on the Colonial Treasurer for salary as parish clerk at Newcastle. 1828: Age 45, TOL holder - Employed as Clerk by Francis Beattie, Newcastle. 1827: TOL 23/10/1833: COF 1849: Samuel died aged 67.
