See complete article: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/171455188?searchTerm=Dennes%20Francis The first marriage ceremony performed at Bungay Bungay by the Rev. Thomas O'Reilly, of St. Thomas' Church of England, Port Macquarie, was that of Susannah Cann to Francis Dennes, on October 30, 1848. The signatures recorded on the marriage certificate at this wedding were Mr. John Stirling and Mr. George Henry Rowley, J.P. The latter was at that time the owner of Bungay Bungay. This Mr. Francis Dennes arrived in Sydney during the year 1832 by the ship 'Burrell.' He was a native of Truro, Cornwall, England— where he was born in the year 1816. After arrival in this colony Mr. Dennes first lived at Lane Cove, then on the Hunter River, and arrived on the Manning River on or prior to August 30. 1846. Five children were born to this couple— namely William Henry, FrancisJohn, Emma Jane, Charles Frederick, and Susannah. The mother of the family just mentioned died shortly after the birth of the last named, which was on November 2, 1855, at Tinonee, and was buried at Taree Estate Cemetery. Cornwall Assizes. Francis Dennis, 14, and Joseph Philips, 13, were tried an indictment charging with having broken into the dwelling-house of John Harris in the parish of St. Allen, near Truro, on the morning of the 22nd of January last.—Guilty ; sentence of death recorded. North Devon Journal, 8 April 1830.




Francis Dennis was convicted at Cornwall and given a Life Sentence. Transported to New South Wales, Australia on the 'Burrell' arriving Dec 1830. He was one of the youngest prisoners at only 13yrs of age. He was sent to Carters Barracks (separate quarters for boys), Paramatta, Sydney.
