SHIP NEWS.—On Wednesday arrived the Catherine transport, Capt. Simmonds, with 97 female prisoners from Ireland; which she received at Cork, and afterwards went to Falmouth for convoy, whence she sailed for this Colony the 8th of last December. Yesterday arrived the Three Bees transport, Capt. Wallace, with 209 male prisoners, also from Ireland, but last from England having sailed in the same convoy with the Catherine, under protection of the Niger and Tagus frigates; which captured, off the Cape de Verde, the Ceres French frigate, rated 36, but carrying 46 guns, after an action of 15 minutes in which the Tagus only was engaged. The first Denning to arrive in Australia. Thomas Denning b. Circa 1791, d. 1.10.1862, buried. 3.10.1862 at Wesleyan Cemetery, now Parramatta North Methodist Cemetery, Walter Lawry Park. Thomas married Mary Johns, 10.6.1816. They had 11 Children. Children (in order): Edward, Thomas, Mary, John, Benjamin, Elizabeth 'Eliza', Mary Anne, Jane, and Twins William and James, last child was Stephen. Children were named after John Macarthurs family names and Births were kept in a Register on the Macarthur property. Of the 11 children : 3 died young - Mary a.3, Jane a. 11, Stephen a. 2. Both Mary and Thomas worked for John Macarthur. Mary for Mrs Macarthur as a Personal Maid, in the house at Parramatta and Thomas for John Macarthur as his Principal Overseer of Camden properties.

Thomas was born in Longford, Ireland and at the age of 21 he is listed as being a Publican/Postman. On the 10th June 1816 he married Mary Johns in St. Johns Church of England. Thomas died on the 1st October 1862 in Parramatta.
