Abby Desmond in the New South Wales, Australia, Convict Applications for the Publication of Banns, 1830 Name: Abby Desmond Gender: Female Birth Year: abt 1805 Age: 25 Arrival year: 1828 Spouse Name: James Liddell Spouse Gender: Male Spouse Birth Year: 1808 Spouse Age: 22 Spouse Vessel: Competitor 2 Marriage Year: Abt 1830 Application Date:27 Jan 1830 Application Place: The Scots Church, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Notes : She is a native of scotland and her master W Lloyd of the 39th Regiment approves. He is a free emigrant and was a marine of his own behalf. He is also a native of scotland and is well able to maintain a family being a chief officer of the Lord Liverpool cutter.

Abbey DESMOND (also k/a LIDDELL)was convicted at the CCC, London on 10 April 1828 for stealing clothing and a flat iron. 7yr transportation sentence. Stated she had taken these items on the advice of a fellow lodger. Transported per the 'Competitor' to New South Wales, Australia. Transferred to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Brigantine' 1833. Now known by name "Liddell". Her conduct record sheet in VDL has no remarks. Native Place: Fermanagh 29yrs; servant; 5'3 1/4"; Hazel eyes; fresh freckled complexion.
