Originally charged with murder of David Jonathan at Rhosmaen, Wales, but acquitted. Charge of highway robbery - found guilty. Death sentence commuted to transportation for life. Assigned to J E Bettington at Merton, NSW. After receiving ticket of leave he married Sarah Hill in 1847. No issue. Publican of Railway Hotel, Newcastle, NSW. Owned 2 farms on the Hunter RIver at The Folly. Died 25/12/1856 after being run down by train when he rescued a woman from her cart which was stuck on railway tracks.
