Conduct Report: https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-7$init=CON33-1-7p69 John Dignam, tried at Westmeath 27 July 1840, 7 years. Transported for Malicious assault. Stated this offence - Malicious assault on a girl Ann Carey, Westmeath, single. Surgeon’s report: A quiet steady man, rather slow. Trade, Plo’man & F. Labourer. Age 22, Nativ eplace, Westmeath. 11 Oct 1842, Misconduct whilst cook in defrauding his fellow prisoners of their rations by having a quantity of pork & mutton concealed in the cookhouse. Existing time of probation to be estended three months to be passed at Sloper ? 21 Sep 1844, Ticket of Leave. Conditional Pardon approved 20 Jan 1847. Gazette. --------------------------------------------------- It is hereby notified to the under-mentioned individuals, that it ' is the Lieutenant-Governor's intention to recommend them to the ' gracious consideration of Her Majesty the Queen for pardons of I the 2nd class, available within the limits of the Australian Colonies and New Zealand :— John Dignam, British Sovereign; The Cornwall Chronicle, 21 Feb 1846.
