Liverpool Standard and General Commercial Advertiser Lancashire, England 8 Jul 1836 William Dixon, aged 25, and William Langley, for stealing three sovereigns, the property of Benj. Bateman. William Langley arrived per 'Bengal Merchant' 1836. William Dixon was listed as 25 years old on arrival. Native Place: Lancashire. William was literate, protestant, single, 5'3½" tall, brown complexion, brown hair and eyes, lost a lower front tooth right side, Adam and Eve, tree and serpent on upper, anchor, SD, woman, AM and bird inside lower right arm, HS 2H and heart back of right hand, man and a woman on upper, WDAM, 2 pipes, glass, heart and two darts, mermaid, anchor, DO lower left arm, D, anchor, and star, back of left hand, ring on middle and third fingers of same. 1/3/1841: Admitted to Newcastle gaol from Newcastle district. Sentenced to 14 days in the cells for disobedience of orders. 20/4/1841: Admitted to Newcastle gaol. Sentenced to 14 days in thecells for being out after hours. To be returned to service. 28/5/1841: Sailor aged 29 from Lancashire. 5' 3 1/4"; brown compl., brown hair, brown eyes, lost a lower front tooth right side. tattoos. Absconded from A.A. Company 17th May.
