Baptisms 10 Aug 1817, Elizabeth, daughter of James and Judith Dogherty, abode, Hobart, married (Sydney) 14 Nov 1822, at Hobart Town, born 5 November, Mary Ann Dockerly, daughter of James and Judith, married in Sydney. 24 May 1829, John, born 5 Jan 1825, son of James and Judith Docherty, abode, Sorrell, carpenter 24 May 1829, James, 29 April 1819, born son of James and Judith Docherty,

Colonial Times, 1 Oct 1830. -------------------------------------------------- ADJOURNED QUARTER SESSIONS. MONDAY, JULY 4. James Dogherty was convicted of stealing three ducks, of the value of 9s., and nine ducks, valued at 20s., the property of Bernard Mackintyre, and received the sentence of two years' imprisonment with hard labour. The Courier, 8 July 1842. --------------------------------------------------- James was transported from India to NSW on the Britannia in 1814. The following news report suggests the dates of the voyage. I have not found it recorded whether he was tried in a civil or military court at Madras. "The Britannia has brought a small supply of India goods, with information that the Frederick had sailed nearly two months before her, for this Port; but with instructions to go first to Batavia, which doubtless occasions her delay. She also brings Calcutta papers down to the 8th of November; which acquaint us with the arrival of the Right Hon. the EARL of MOIRA, who has succeeded Lord MINTO in the Government of India."
