In the record it was stated that the marriage was refused as their offspring would be a burden on the publec. Rev J McEnroe wrote a note " Hogan's wife who came to the colony about 3 years ago at the government expense was afterwards attended by me in her last night and I performed the funeral service over her remains. Hogan is a sober and industrious man and deserving of the indulgence he now prays for
