Dominick was reunited with his wife, Mary Buckly, and the only surviving child, Philip, in Melbourne in December 1852. They had 4 more children before Dominick died in September 1859.

Dominick was convicted with his brother, William, and bro-in-law, Henry Reardon,at Cork on 20 Sep 1847. They left for Bermuda on the 'Medway" with 445 other prisoners. William dies at Bermuda a few weeks after arriving. Henry Reardon accompanied Dominick Rohan on the "Neptune", leaving on 22 Apr 1849, arriving Capetown (Simon's Bay) on 21 Sep 1849, then without stepping off the ship leaving for VDL on 21 Feb 1850. Dominick showed as Patrick Rohane when he arrived at Hobart with a Conditional Pardon.
