Tasmanian Records. Convict Conduct Record: https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-9$init=CON31-1-9P10 No 6. William Donald. Dec 7 1816. Stealing sheep the property of Edw. Garth, 200 Lashes & labor in the Gaol Gang 12 mos in irons. Jan 12 1821. Stealing 5 quarts and a pint of rum, some pearl barley & a canvas Cot & frame the property of the Crown, 100 Lashes & to be transported to Newcastle for the remainder of his original term of transportation. Sept 3 1827. F.S. Commd. For trial for stealing ? the property of Govt. (afterwards bailed) in margin: S.C. ?0 Nov 1822, Not Guilty. At a Bench of Magistrates held on Saturday last, James Brown and William McDonald, crown prisoners, were charged with feloniously taking and carrying away from the premises of Edw. Garth, senr. of Queenborough, on the evening of the 19th ult. two wethers, valued at £1 10s. the property of the said E. Garth. — After examining several witnesses, the Court found the prisoners guilty of the charge alledged against them, and sentenced each of them to receive 200 lashes, and to work in irons in the gaol gang for 12 calendar months. Hobart Town Gazette, 14 Dec 1816.
