Convict Notes

David Donovan was next indicted for stealing four sheep, the property of John Punch, at Ringabella, on the 1?th of July, 182?, It appeared that the sheep were stolen from field belonging to the prosecutor, on the night of the 1?th July, 182? ; they were found a few days afterwards in the possession of a butcher in Cork, to whom the prisoner had sold them. Since that time he had concealed himself several times, and avoided being taken into custody. When interrogated as to how he came by the sheep, the prisoner said in his defence, that they knew him so well they followed him all over the country, and that he could not get rid of them any other way than selling them.—Guilty.
