Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. Michael Donovan, age on arrival, 18, per Eliza II (1), 1827. Tried Cork, 1827, 7 years, for Stealing coat. DOB, 1809, Native place, Cork Co. Catholic. single, Farm man. Remarks: Norfolk Island.




Michael Donovan was accused of stealing a coat and waistcoat, the properly of Daniel Crowley, on the 9th Sept. Guilty. The prisoner, who was found guilty of another charge of a similar nature, was sentenced to be transported, for seven years. Cork Constitution, 5 April 1827.

Colonial Sentence: tried at Sutton Forrest, 25 Feb 1828, for Absconding and Felony, 3 years. To Sydney 8 Jul 1831. Run 1st, ret. 4th Nov 1829. Description: Native of Cork, age 19, 5 ft 2¼, fresh comp, brown hair, hazle eyes, R.C. religion.
