Dora Chatters at Sorell, per John William Dare, F.S., for resisting police, sentence-3 months, a laundress, native place Ireland, 41 yrs old, 5 feet 5 inches high, resides at Sorell, last conviction-29 April 1871. Tasmania Police Gazette, 10th Nov 1871, p181. The name Dora Chatters was inadvertently inserted as convicted under the Provisions. Tasmania Police Gazette, 17th Nov 1871, p185.




Dorah was listed as 30 years old on arrival, 5'0 1/2" tall, pale complexion, black hair, grey eyes, mole on right cheek, scar over right eyebrow, scar under right eye, moles on left cheek, native place: Kings County, Ire. 2/12/1856: Permission to marry Thomas Chatter, (Bengal Merchant 1828) free. 5/1/1857: Married Thomas CHATTO/CHATTERS - registered at Clarence - he was 40, a brickmaker, and she 35 and a spinster. 25/8/1857: TOL 6/4/1858: TOL revoked, AWOL 28/2?/1859: Free Certificate, Hobart. 26/10/1859: Son Thomas Chatters born Brighton, Tas. Died 17/4/1939 New Norfolk. 25/12/1864: Son Christopher 'Chatters' born at Sorell - father listed as a labourer. 13/3/1877: Dorah died aged 48 at the General Hospital, Hobart, of Phthisis (TB) and was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Hobart.




Gave birth to a child, Dennis Dooley, on board the John William Dare on 7th April, 1852.
