William’s father James Doolan was also transported to Australia in 1834 onboard the ‘Parmelia’ for sheep stealing. William’s brothers Michael and Patrick would also later immigrate to Australia with their families.




William was the father of John ‘Jack’ Doolan, a bushranger who became infamous and was immortalised in the bush ballad and colonial Australian Rebel folk song ‘The Wild Colonial Boy’.




William Dooling was 25 years old on arrival and was transported for 'Stealing fire arms and money, £2' William was 5' 9" tall, could read and write a little, single, RC. Mother: Bridget Brothers: Patrick, Michael Sisters: Mary, Bridget, Margaret - all at native place of Tipperary. 7/6/1852: Married Ann Burke (Earl Grey 1850) they had 6 children. 22/7/1854: COF Moved to Victoria.
