Humphrey Dorville was convicted at Somerset on 25/03/1839 for stealing a sheep (previous conviction and imprisonment for stealing potatoes). 14 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Layton 3', arriving 08/12/1839. Hulk Report: Good. Ship Surgeon's Report: very orderly. Married man, wife Jane at Broughton, England. 3 children. Born abt 1775 at Broughton, England. 5'1"; blue eyes; fresh complexion; black to grey hair; farm labourer. Died H.M. Colonial Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania 16/12/1839 (just a few days after arrival).
