Thomas was probably convicted at Hertford Quarter Sessions of 4 counts of stealing and sentenced to seven years, transported aboard the ship 'Canada' which departed Spithead 21 Jun 1801 and arrived in the colony 14 Dec 1801. By 1804, he appears to be in a long term relationship with Sarah Pierce (Convict, Nile, 1801). They had 8 or 9 children but did not formalize their relationship.
