Arrived with 177 male Convicts (14 dv) Carried 30 Crew + 41 Marines Master: Duncan Sinclair She was the largest of the eleven vessels of the historic First Fleet to Australia. The First Fleet consisted of two Royal Navy escort ships, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply accompanied by six convict transports, the Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the Scarborough, and three store ships, the Borrowdale, Fishburn and Golden Grove. Convicts on the 1st Fleet Alexander are listed under Lady Penrhyn, Scarborough & Alexander.

Family connections for William (Douglas) are: DOUGLAS William (Douglas) was born about 1755. He arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 12 1788 after a voyage of 12months on First Fleet ship ALEXANDER. He married firstly Mary (Groves) on 1 6 1788 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He was Free by Servitude by 1796.>>> William (Douglas) does not have an entry on this Website as yet; added by me. Mary (Groves) was born about 1757. She was tried for stealing money at Lincoln Lincolnshire, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 1 1788 after a voyage of 9months on First Fleet ship PRINCE OF WALES. She was Free by Servitude by 1796. She died about 1810-not shown in Smees records. He died on 9 4 1793 age about4m & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. 2.Elizabeth (Douglas) was born on 8 2 1796 & baptised on 10 9 1796 w/Joseph at St Johns CofE Parramatta. After her mother died in 1810 she cared for 2siblings & possibly her father. She married at age16 Daniel (Jurd/Judd) on 20/8 9 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor & produced 9children. Some time after death of her husband in 1833 she moved to her son Johns farm at the Valley. She died on 25 1 1877 age80. ..Daniel (Jurd/Judd) was born on 24 6 1780 in London & was baptised at St Giles Cripplegate on 23 7 1780; he became a chimney sweep. He was tried w/1other for theft of bacon, on 30 12 1797, of John (Chandler) at probably Old Bailey on 17 1 1798, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & New Prison in Bleamire, hulks & Portsmouth from 10 2 1799 & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 8 1802 after a voyage of 7months on PERSEUS; he was 4'11.5" fair complexion brown hair hazel eyes. His sentence expired in 1805 & he became a tenant farmer, being recorded in 1806 as (Jurde) renting 7acres possibly near Hawkesbury/Pitt Town. In 1822 he is recorded on 20acres at Windsor & a farmer; at this time it seems possible that 2of his wifes siblings were living with his family. He is recorded in 1823 as a settler.
